About Me
Hi there, I'm Dr. Jess Ribeiro, a clinical psychologist licensed in Florida, North Carolina, and New Jersey. Through PSYPACT, I can also see patients in most states across the U.S. (see here to check the status of your state).
You might be here because you’re searching for the right therapist, or maybe you’re curious about therapy in general. Either way, I’m glad you found your way to my corner of the internet.
A bit about my professional training and qualifications: Let me share a bit about myself, so you know who’s behind the keyboard. I earned a BA in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and my PhD in Clinical Psychology at Florida State University. After finishing my pre-doctoral residency at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, I completed post-doctoral fellowships at Harvard University and Vanderbilt University. Across these experiences, I have received extensive training in leading evidence-based psychotherapies and have worked at all levels of care.
Aside from my clinical practice, I am also a professor of psychology at a large research university where I conduct research and mentor graduate students. I have been teaching our psychological interventions class and providing clinical supervision to doctoral students for several years.
I was named a “Rising Star” by the Association of Psychological Science and Best Early Career Researcher by the American Association of Suicidology as well as Behaviour Research and Therapy. For multiple years, I have also been recognized as “Highly Cited Researcher” by the Web of Science, which recognizes scientists whose work ranks in the top 1% of citations in their field. I have authored over 80 peer-reviewed journal articles, many of which are in the field’s leading journals. My research has also been covered in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, Scientific American, NBC, PBS, the BBC, among others.
A bit about me as a therapist: If you’re considering therapy, you might be wondering what it would be like to work with me. My style is thorough, thoughtful, and empathetic. I’m here to listen deeply and work with you to get back to living your life fully—and to do it as quickly as possible. I sprinkle in a bit of humor because therapy doesn’t have to be all serious, all the time. It’s important to me that you feel comfortable, understood, and empowered throughout our work together.
I use the latest scientific evidence to guide our sessions, but everything is personalized to your unique strengths, challenges, and goals. This isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach—your therapy is about you, after all.
A bit about me personally: I currently live with my husband, son, and our dog, Fig. I’m a Seinfeld enthusiast and carrot cake connoisseur. I enjoy being in nature and also love to travel — exploring the world, immersing myself in different cultures and languages, and discovering new experiences are some of my favorite things.
